Rising Stars Seprod rose to the occasion by defeating Metrodade Security 2-1 in the final of the Western Sports Kingston and St Andrew Business House Knockout Football competition on Sunday at Alpha Institute formerly Alpha Boys' School.
In a highly contested game, Seprod took the lead in the 20th minute when Tarrique Campbell volleyed a stinger in the top corner of the net, catching Metrodade goal-keeper Damion Hyatt off his line.
Campbell then doubled the lead in the 72nd minute after steering past Metrodade's slacking defence with a brilliant strike effectively sealing the game. Their momentum, however, slowed as Campbell the goal-scorer was sent off after receiving a red card in the 82nd minute for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Metrodade had several clear-cut chances to score, but were unsuccessful until the Molynes United defender Jermy Nelson stepped up and converted in the 85th minute to give the team some hope of getting back into the game.
After full time and seven minutes added, Seprod could pop the champagne and celebrate their triumph.
