PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

JOB SUMMARY  

The role manages the resources (personnel, equipment, raw and packaging material, etc.) used in the plant manufacturing process (production, sanitation and maintenance support) to optimize plant output, efficiency and productivity, and to achieve established targets and objectives. 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  
  1. Ensure that each shift begins and ends with a complete check-off of resources ((personnel, equipment, raw and packaging material, work-in-progress, etc.) necessary for planned production 
  1. Ensures that work station are adequately and qualitatively staffed and all equipment required for shift production are in proper working condition  
  1. Supervises the production process to ensure that operating procedures are adhered to giving due regard to quality and safety; ensure that staff is constantly reminded of safety hazards in their area 
  1. Investigate all accidents and near misses immediately. Make a report, include recommendation 
  1. Provide on the job training, guidance and coaching for all employees to ensure full competence in performing their duties 
  1. Ensures that proper housekeeping and good manufacturing practices are maintained 
  1. Review and sign-off all data sheets shift reports 
  1. Oversees the transfer of finished goods to the warehouse daily and its update in the manufacturing system  
  1. Operates the implementation of the Company’s Loss Control objectives and local initiatives and support same with effective communication, coaching, modelling and participating in element team leadership, planned tours and inspections, and serving on related Committees/Task Forces 
  1. Review daily hours worked for hourly paid employees via swipe/time card, and ensure that shift staff pay information is submitted on a timely basis 
  1. Monitor policy breaches and absenteeism and enforce corrective actions either by additional staff or recommended disciplinary action 
  1. Ensure that production staff annual end of contact evaluation are completed on a timely basis  
  1. Assist in monthly stocktaking exercise  
QUALIFICATIONS  
  1. BBA Production & Operations Management or its equivalent from a recognized/approved tertiary institution 
  1. Five (5) years’ experience in a similar position in a manufacturing environment 
  1. Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Microsoft Word and Excel 
  1. Training in Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP 
ABILITIES, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE  
  1. Computer literacy, to include Microsoft Excel, Word and database management.  
  1. Be a self-starter, with leadership abilities 
  1. Possess excellent communication, team-building and process-management skills 
  1. Be flexible, with excellent decision-making and personnel-management skills 
  1. Possess exceptional technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
