THE ROLE
The incumbent will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the unit, through preventative maintenance, thereby reducing downtime and improving productivity.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnoses minor repairs and service: including liquid propane, gas, and diesel engines, electric motors, transmissions, drive axles, hydraulic systems, brake systems, steering systems, electrical systems
- Diagnoses faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs,
- Processes Work Order through Fleet Management System
- Plan and schedule routine maintenance of forklifts and perform after-service tests to ensure proper performance and compliance in keeping with the manufacturer’s specifications
- Properly block, chock, and chain equipment, and disassemble equipment as needed to facilitate major component removal and repair
- Performing facility maintenance tasks, routine preventive maintenance, and equipment testing as assigned
- Electrical systems Servicing
- Rebuild and/or repair all components and systems in industrial material handling and other related equipment
- Perform routine and operational maintenance to ensure that equipment continues to run according to the manufacturer's specifications
- Reporting incidents, service, downtimes, and repairs
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Certification in Auto Mechanics at a minimum- Level Three (3) from Jamaica German Automotive School (JAGAS) or equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working on forklifts (Raymond, Toyota, and Hyster)
- Knowledge of best practices and safety procedures in a manufacturing & distribution environments
- The ability to lift, carry, and or transport up to 50 pounds
Preferred Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Good time management and organizing ability
- Above average proficiency in Microsoft Office and database work
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail orientated
- Knowledge of Automotive equipment is a plus, but not required
- Have a strong appreciation for the need for follow-up leading to the conclusion of tasks
