ERP Systems Support Specialist

Core Purpose:

This position requires strong familiarity with B2B distribution models and financial requirements. Coordinates with other departments to address user needs, troubleshoot system issues, and develop more efficient practices when using ERP system. This position is also responsible for evaluating ERP system based on new technology and company growth, which can include third-party software integration.

Essential Functions:
  • Provides functional and technical support for ERP and related system environment including any third party software.
  • Work closely with other departments, understanding their needs, suggesting solutions, and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Review the inter-department process and make recommendations for process improvements based on the best practice method.
  • Provide technical support and end-user training for the ERP system.
  • Manages relationships with vendors for determination of the system requirements, service and customization needs, and overall support of the ERP system.
  • Coordinates and manages reporting needs, working closely with business and data analysts to meet corporate data requirements.
  • Maintain complete documentation of the ERP and ensure all security and audit requirements.
  • Provide off-shift hours support on nights/weekends (as required) Qualifications
Proficiencies:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to do presentations to large groups.
  • Good understanding of application system for distribution, finance and manufacturing processes, and workflow as relates to system requirements.
  • Knowledge of IBM Mid-Range computer systems IBM network servers and the software that runs on each mainframe, network, and PC.
  • Experience in system upgrades and implementation including data conversion.
  • Security and discretion related to system access and associated information are paramount. Must Ensure that system(s) and applications comply with security policies and internal control requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate a proposal to management based on cost/benefit analysis
  • Ability to troubleshoot, isolate an issue, investigate the root cause, and resolve problems
  • Hardware knowledge for ALL computer systems is a requirement. System configuration knowledge is a requirement.
  • Programming Query 400, SQL, RPG, and ODBC is a requirement for this position. Requires the ability to program reports for all applications and knowledge of the inner workings of the databases.
  • Security and discretion related to system access and associated information are paramount. Must Ensure that system(s) and applications comply with security policies and internal control requirements
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Services / Business Management or equivalent and 5 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in application/solution design, configuration/system setup
  • Three years minimum training on IBM midrange computers (Power Systems, I-Series, AS-400)
  • Strong application knowledge in Distribution, Finance and Manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with MS O365 software and services
  • Database programming skills (SQL, DB2); RPG programming a major plus but not required
